Linking Biological Resource Centers to Researchers: The Biobank Marketplace

Our project, developed in partnership with Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), the largest European hospital network with the most extensive biosample catalog in France—was designed to significantly enhance the visibility and accessibility of valuable biological resources. The primary goal was to bridge the gap between Biological Resource Centers (BRCs) and researchers through an user-friendly biobank marketplace.

We created a centralized biobank marketplace to:
Increase Visibility: Highlight the extensive biosample catalogs of Biological Resource Centers (BRCs) to make them easily discoverable by researchers.
Facilitate Research: Offer an intuitive online search application to streamline the process of finding and obtaining biosamples.
Enhance Connectivity: Enable direct communication between researchers and BRCs through automated request systems for faster resource access.
Provide Comprehensive Support: Use dynamic marketing content, including a landing page, interactive brochures, and an AI-powered virtual assistant, to guide and assist researchers.

This integrated platform significantly improved the efficiency of accessing biosamples and fostered better research outcomes.

Optimizing Biosample Access: Unified Database, Intuitive Search, Automated Requests, and AI Assistance

Our work involved:

  1. Standardized Database Methodology: We developed and implemented a standardized database methodology for updating and managing catalogs of available biosamples within Biological Resource Centers. This approach ensured consistency and accuracy in resource listings.
  2. Online Search Application: Researchers had access to an intuitive online application that allowed them to search for and locate available biosamples easily. This tool streamlined the process of finding specific resources needed for their research.
  3. Automated Request Generation: The platform featured an automated system that generated and sent requests directly to BRCs. This reduced the administrative burden on researchers and accelerated the process of acquiring biosamples.
  4. Marketing Content and AI Solution :
    1. Landing Page: A visually engaging landing page served as a digital brochure, showcasing the features and benefits of the Biobank Marketplace.
    2. Flip Brochures: Interactive flip brochures provided detailed presentations of each BRC, highlighting their offerings and capabilities.
    3. AI-Powered Virtual Assistant: An intelligent virtual assistant guided researchers through the platform, assisting them in their search for biosamples and answering queries with precision.
